Fur Vest and Baroque Print Dress

Forever 21 has a plethora of interesting dresses, accessories and shoes. I was actually in store a few weeks ago and fell in love with this dress. This Love21 dress style is versatile and comfortable. For me, the Love21 is the contemporary, classic side of Forever21 for women. The Love21 clothing line is generally a half size larger which means longer hemlines, less trendy clothing and more classic cuts. The prices are similar which makes these even better!

This dress actually has a tie belt that I removed and added my own belt. I like that the belt mirrors the baroque print on the dress. I've added belts to dresses for years because it adds a little structure to a shift dress and makes the dress my own. You can change the look for day by adding camel heels, structured tote and a blazer to take this dress from night out to day at work! You know how I love my two for ones! Plus this look reminds me of the 70's! Great costume idea for tonight!

Two For Tuesday: Fall and Winter Pixie Pants

I've seen French quote t-shirts/sweatshirts over the last few seasons and thought they were so trendy. To me, trendy = looking like everyone else. Isn't style about being yourself? So when I saw the quote on this shirt I knew this was me. It said something I wanted to project to the world. I love the thought of you, me, oui. I've always felt that people are better when they help one another, support one another, together. I thought of all the support I've found in other army spouses during life's inevitable curveballs. My next thought was my husband. I thought him and me and Paris, what could be better? That trip is on my bucket list. I'm an idealist that way. Always looking forward to the future, always trying to see my cup half full......

Since I'm learning how to style t-shirts in a way that works for me, I'm also learning to style pants. When I tried on these Old Navy Pixie pants, it was love at first glimpse. They are comfortable (they offer lots of stretch), can be styled casual or dressy and have a chic cut with the ankle hemline. This is not a sponsored post, either. I love the way these look whether with heels or pointy toe flats and they have plenty of stretch without becoming baggy. Comfortable, casual, chic......

Style Never Quits

Life has thrown some curve balls the last few weeks adding several things to my plate I wasn't expecting. I'm trying my hardest to catch up. I'm one of those people who always has 20 things on her to-do list and as soon as I cross a few off several more are added. I'm also not one of those people who volunteer or say yes to everything, either. I know my limits, most of the time. But sometimes when I have a low and slow stress burn that's when I put more on myself than necessary. It's a good thing I've got the Mav. He ALWAYS brings me back down to earth. It also doesn't help that we have our house on the market. For anyone who's ever tried to sell a house and keep two small children entertained knows this is no small feat. I like to keep myself busy especially when I'm pulling my hair out! I guess this is a throwback to all those days of my husbands deployments when keeping myself busy is what kept me sane. Styling clothes is NEVER on the backburner because, if nothing else, it makes me happy and distracted.

I seriously wrestled for months about whether or not to buy a chambray shirt. I can't believe it took me so long to jump on this trend. After two years, I now have two chambray shirts, one dark and one light, and two chambray shirt dresses, one long sleeve and one short sleeve. All of these items are my go-to for everyday casual, chic style. You can never go wrong with chambray!

Have a Fun, Fantastic Saturday!

Fall Is For Football

College gameday is such an exciting time for a girl like me who LOVES football, especially college football but most of all SEC football. Choosing what to wear to said football game viewing whether you're tailgating or sitting on the couch, chic is the name of the game, pun intended. I went through phases of wearing red blazers with jeans and heels to wearing t-shirts emblazoned with Go Hogs, never quite finding the right mix of chic and fanatic. Even though I ended my college career at the University of Hawaii, I began it at the University of Arkansas. Needless to say, once a Hog fan always a Hog fan, plus UH fan gear isn't at the top of the list for stores in SEC territory.

I'm not usually a t-shirt kinda girl, but when I saw this t-shirt at a local store (nowhere near Arkansas, I might add), I went for it. I think the buyer for said store may have confused this team with the local team in the state I live, either way I got a cute team shirt and paired it with a matching scarf, black skinnies, and black riding boots for cool, chic style.

Fall Fashion Style Steal: Belted Scarf Over Dress

So during the many city fashion week street style pictures that were online everywhere in the month of September, I saw a few different looks featuring a belted scarf over a long sleeve white dress. I first spied this on the Nordstrom website while searching their designer Fall 2014 look books namely from Burberry. Burberry was all about belted scarves on their Fall 2014 runway. I decided to give it a try myself using things from my closet. While I am usually not a fan of any added bulk to the middle region of my body, this trend I had to try just to see what it would look like. I found that I like the look especially since it forced me to use my creativity in my closet! This was such an easy trend to try.

To achieve this look, any long sleeve solid color dress will do. Find a matching long handkerchief scarf with fringe, grab a brown belt, wedges and handbag. Add gold accessories and this outfit is ready for your next night out! I really like the outfit I put together in the above links. Bright and cute for Fall!

Have a great Monday,

Gray, Grey Days

This dress from the Lou & Grey collection for Loft is the perfect summer/fall transition dress for my part of the world where days can begin overcast in the 60's and end sunny in the 90's! I wore this for one of those particular gray days. It was perfect for the weather and later in the day I removed the scarf and still had a stylish warm weather outfit. This particular dress is sold out online but they have great long sleeve versions here.

During the summer a few years ago I happened upon a store, Loft. I noticed that most of their clothes were geared towards women who work in an office so I stuck with their accessories, you know sparkly earrings, necklaces and the like. I love this store because not only do they have very cute clothes but they come in petite, too. AND they are usually running a sale.

While I was in the store a few weeks back, I found this Lou and Grey for Loft dress. The minute I tried it on, I HAD to have it. Comfortable, casual and chic.

I do love to wear my hair in a messy ponytail because it is easy but still chic.

Simple. Easy. Chic. Comfortable. Casual. I think I am adding words to my fashion mantra!!

Sequins and Light

The other night Mav and I were testing out some evening shots right before the sun set. I would say we are working on the "artistic" quality of the photos. But seriously, Mav (the helicopter pilot aka Type A personality) nor I (type A businesswoman) are artists and neither do we claim to be. I don't have an artsy, craftsy bone in my body, have no idea about the technicalities of fashion or the best ways to mix colors. You can ask my kids about my artistic abilities when I try to copy whatever new "mommy of the year" craft is trending on Pinterest. Nah, scratch that. Don't ask. My artistic abilities stretch as far as my personality: I love what I love and if it makes me feel like my personality is being represented, I go for it. I try not to take myself too seriously, either.

I'm a sucker for shiny things. I'm kinda like a fish that way, dangle something sparkly in front of me and I'm hooked! :)

This outfit is comfortable, casual and chic. My three fashion rules! Perfect for date-night.

There you have it. You don't have to spend a fortune to feel like a million bucks!
